The University of Kentucky is home to 46 social and cultural fraternities and sororities. These organizations are members of governing councils that assist them with events and programs, communication, and recruitment activities. Below is a listing of our groups by council. The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body of 21 men’s social fraternities at the University of Kentucky. IFC works with the member fraternities on areas such as scholarship, community service, and educational programming. Additionally, IFC helps coordinate the formal rush process in both fall and spring semesters.
The University of Kentucky National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the coordinating body for nine historically African-American fraternities and sororities. The council organizes educational programs and community service projects for members and the larger University community, as well as the annual Homecoming Step Show.

The Panhellenic Council at the University of Kentucky is the governing body of 13 National Panhellenic Conference sororities and three associate member sororities—Ceres, Delta Phi Mu, and Phi Sigma Rho. Panhellenic works with the member chapters to coordinate activities such as the High Heel Derby, Panhellenic Formal Recruitment in the fall, and leadership programs.
